FAQs

What is sound healing?

A sound bath or sound healing is a meditative experience that uses musical instruments to promote stillness, introspection, and greater awareness. It’s called a bath because you’re immersed in sound waves, their enchanting rhythms, and sacred frequencies. The instruments I use during sound sessions include singing bowls, tuning forks, drums, chimes, and rattles. Sound therapy is also a complementary health practice that can be used in conjunction with conventional medicine (i.e., please still see your house doctor, primary care physician, licensed psychologist, and other health care professionals).

What are the benefits?

Benefits of sound bathing include stress reduction, mood boost, increased focus, decreased brain fog, lower anxiety, better sleep, deeper relaxation, and more.

Do you offer group sound baths?

Yes! I offer group sound bath meditations online and in person for arts + cultural institutions, social justice organizations, and wellness brands.

What do I wear to a sound bath?

Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Natural materials like cotton, linen, or silk will breathe organically along with you. An eye mask is optional, feel free to simply close your eyes or lower your gaze. Wired earphones are a must, if we’re meeting virtually.

Is there water involved?

Not really. It’s called a “sound bath” because you’re immersed in acoustics designed to bring you into a calmer, meditative state.

Will this conflict with my beliefs?

Yes. Journeying deeper into yourself may challenge, confront, and disrupt everything you thought you believed. And this is OK. It’s good to be curious. It’s good to question. It’s good to seek. Bite the apple, Eve! Knowledge is delicious.

Do you host private sound ceremonies?

Yes! I design sound ceremonies for major life events like weddings, a new home, or a new baby.

What are your qualifications?

I’m certified in sound therapy through Shift Meditation, hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Howard University, and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the American Film Institute Conservatory.
